Book Review of Hunger Games

Book Review of Hunger Games

In a utopian future, and on the ruins of what once must have been a nation take up arms, the powerful nation of Panem forces the twelve districts that rise up against her in the past to pay a tribute of blood as two teenagers, a boy and a girl, who will become gladiators in a televised nationally known as the Hunger Games, which will have to fight each other until only one survivor left event. District 12 is prepared for the "harvest" and while Prim Everdeen is unlucky enough to be graceful to participate in the macabre show, her sister Katniss will be submitted voluntarily to prevent Prim die to the first change. Along with Peeta Mellark, Katniss will go to The Hunger Games tribute of their district and there will be coached by another time champion Haymitch Abernathy in order to survive and learn to make decisions that do not share.
Hunger Games plays, and despite the redundancy, with all these ideas and refines a little more combining social repression, class struggle, future rebellion, media power, dubious morality, and could go on until tomorrow.
I am one of the few who have discovered this book thanks to the film; But also it is a book that I loved from beginning to end, an addictive and action-packed book. The only thing that would make him the note is lower because the plot is not entirely original; there are films that have a very similar argument. But it is a book that, regardless of the part of the sand is not entirely 'original', we see a lot of originality by the author. Creates characters with a very defined character and at all levels. Each and every one of the characters are different and very real, which is appreciated infinity when reading a book, and I think that we all agree.

It is a far-fetched fairy tale. But if you entangle in the details of the story, you might miss topics; inequality, irresponsible governance, violence against children, that resonates with the daily lives of millions of Hondurans.
These books are not popular because we want to escape the world of Katniss Everdeen. They are a phenomenon because we suspect that your world is ours.
In the world of The Hunger Games, the Capitol lives a life of wealth and extravagant consumption. Meanwhile, in the "districts", millions of people have dangerous jobs with low wages. While the Capitol wallows in excesses, districts can barely afford to feed their children.

I really enjoyed reading the book with my friends, being able to identify and discuss similarities in our reality as in the book, really recommended to read it in an afternoon with a cup of coffee because I assure you that captivate someone more like me captive to me.

Book Review of the Anna Frank´s Diary

Book Review of the Anna Frank´s Diary

Anne's diary was a gift for her thirteenth birthday on 12 June 1942. Anne named him Kitty and he went on to tell everything that happened around him. Anne Frank and her family were Jews as they were engaged in a war, he was treated differently: they had to wear a yellow star on their clothes, shop in Jewish stores, only frequent places owned by Jews. Moreover, to move, they could not ride a street car or any other vehicle except the bike and had to study in special schools for Jews. Sometime later came news that would forever change the life of Anne and her family. His sister Margo had been called to the war. With that, they had to leave towards the unknown: they had to migrate to a hiding in the secret annex of the company where Anne's father worked. With the Frank family, also were the Van Daan family (Peter, Mr. Van Daan, and Petronella).
Whom helped the outlaws were identified as Bep, Miep and Mr. Kugler Voskujil, which provided food and other materials needed to survive. After much thought, they decided that would be added an eighth host to the annex and it was decided that it would host the dentist Albert Dussel, installed in Anne’s room. Anne sometimes felt very sad and lonely confined to that place; she argued with her mother and has a problematic coexistence with residents. There were many disputes and arguments in the annex: the Van Daan with Frank, Anne with her mother, Van Daan with Dussel.
Meanwhile outside, northern Amsterdam was destroyed generating more than 200 dead and many wounded. After all expectations, finally came good news: Mussolini had resigned to power in Italy.
Anne had a change in his life, because it happened to understand and have more wisdom. As time passes, the country became increasingly anti-Semitic place, even those that were good were no longer so. These causes fear and concern Anne and the other guests. Anne in May 1944 had suffered a relapse of bad mood, sad, hopeless, due to several reasons: the food supplier had been arrested, anti-Semitism was extreme, the diet was poor, had stress around him, the lack of freedom, fear, and loneliness were part of their daily lives. Anne returns to normal and you start to believe that the end of the war is near, because a general of the German nobility had tried to assassinate Hitler.
In my personal opinion, I found this book very good and interesting, really. What I liked is that not only tells the story Ana was going through his family, but also much appreciated inside she was questioning herself. I like it because I could feel identified in those aspects with it.
I think Anne was a girl who had to admired him, because despite all adversities presented in her short life, she was always optimistic about everything, it was never a selfish person, and although their lives were crumble she always thought that the only happiness was not dying and enjoy warm family. She saw his newspaper '' Kitty '' as his best, true and only friend she could confess their secrets and reasoning.
The World of Anne Frank was not at all easy; you could say that is one of the biggest disappointments of history captured in ink. A true story in which adults with their actions and words are responsible to repress and frustrate the aspirations of a girl who dreamed of being a writer or journalist who was confident his talents as a person and as I had paper and ink never lost hope in humans, even buried in his own solitude. The legacy of a teenager who wrote one of the most important works of all time is captured in beautiful lines that left us in the last pages of his diary.

''That is how difficult these times: the terrible reality attacks and totally annihilates the ideals, dreams and hopes as they arise. It is a miracle that has not yet given up all my hopes, because they seem absurd and unworkable. However, I still clinging to them, despite everything, because I still believe in the inner goodness of men '' - Anne Frank.

Persuasive Essay

Against Abortion

Abortion is a hotly debated topic in our society and although there are different opinions, I want to build on that abortion is a bad decision, no matter under what circumstances this practice remains an attack on an innocent life, which is not responsible of any action or thing that has happened. This is a human being and the simple fact that we get him inside cannot believe we have the right to life, using extremely cruel methods, which often can die trying because many doctors do not know to carry out this procedure and it would be more than a death, serious loss of two lives. ¿Do you think that is fair to end the life of someone who is not guilty of anything?

Abortion is a selfish behavior. People who choose to take this cruel decision does not think that there is a living being within them from the moment the sperm fertilizes the egg. This being already has life and own feelings.

According to medical dictionary “abortion is a procedure that ends an undesired pregnancy by removing the fetus and placenta from the mother's womb (uterus).”  Abortion is murder in silence denying the fundamental principle of life to cover up sexual misconduct of which the degenerate system is responsible. The abortion hurts women. In many cases, it causes irreparable damage to the reproductive role of women. In the last ten years, it has proven to have serious psychological and emotional damage.

In many cases, post-abortion trauma is psychologically devastating, affecting his family, friends and even labor relations. Psychologists describe us three levels of moral consciousness or attitude towards the problem of abortion:
- At the lowest level is when it affects only oneself.
-The second level is when it affects someone close: family, friends or acquaintances.
-The third level is when it affects outsiders, unknown, not born.

When performing an abortion is taking a wrong decision and may youth of today support that at their age they do not have the ability to care for a baby, because of the great responsibility this implies, but But if they had the ability to decide to have sex. Many other people use to excuse the poverty in which they live and say that the baby will have a bad life. Others use of the excuse that the baby will be born with malformations, problems or incurable diseases, this will not have a full life and to be a victim of ridicule. But nothing changes my opinion that abortion is bad and cruel decision. Medicine has come a long way and there are methods for sick people can live well. But God gives every human being free will and is the man who chooses his own path. But we are not the ones to have a life. God does things with a purpose and is only he who has the right to have a life.

In Latin America and the Caribbean are performed each year about 4 million unsafe abortions and killed 5,000 women: it is estimated that in the region about half of the deaths associated with unsafe abortion.

According to the Penal Code in Honduras considers abortion the "intentional killing of a human being at any time during pregnancy," and punishable with 3 to 6 years in prison. With so many conceptive methods you may women have no excuses not to avoid an unwanted pregnancy, we live in a century where technology and science go hand in hand, so there are many methods of how to prevent pregnancies and to illnesses.

In conclusion I can say that abortion is one of the most terrifying acts I have seen in documentaries, see a mangled human being is not something we can take pride. We must be responsible for our own actions to not live the bad consequences. Abortion is a very controversial issue for the whole society, it is one of the problems we face today and is one of the causes of death in our country. Raise awareness of the risks of abortion is task of all.

Cause & Effect Essay

Poor Nutrition in Children

For many parents, the daily struggle with their children begins at breakfast time and repeated at every meal. To ensure proper development and growth of a child is necessary to provide a healthy, balanced, varied and appropriate to their age and diet needs. Children who do not eat or just eat two or three different foods (generally, anything healthy) leaving out whole groups such as vegetables, fruits or fish. These children tend to be skinnier, which worries her parents but, what other consequences resulting from incomplete nutrition?

A complete diet not only ensure their growth, but also their present and future health since the diet of the early years of life mark the metabolism of the child in the adult stage, and increase or decrease the chances of developing certain diseases. According Alfredo Mora (2003) “poor  nutrition of children during the first 3 years of life, but especially in the first year, where on average, children grow up to 25 centimeters can have serious consequences.” Effects of poor diet on children have been especially observed in cases of those children who ignore fresh vegetables and have good quantity of fats in their diet.

According to Fleck, A. (2001)” Children affected by sustained poor nutrition are at greater risk for obesity, mental and emotional health problems, and a failure to thrive academically.” Without eating vegetables along with adequate protein, dairy, carbohydrates and good fats amounts, children can face a number of problems such as stunted growth, poor academic performance, susceptibility to disease and interrupted sleep patterns. Poor nutrition in childhood involves the risk of consequences that could for the rest of life or severe deficiencies can even cause death.

According to Fleck, A. (2001) “Poor nutrition is reflected in the behavior of children. They may suffer from problems of attention deficiency or hyperactivity disorder”. Children tend to be become lethargic and very irritable if the diet does not have enough of daily requirements of fat, proteins and carbohydrates. Mental development often slows down with poor dietary patterns. This is not noticed early but with symptoms like delayed speech, delayed coordination and slow learning patterns parents start realizing the problem of the child.

According to Martinez, J. “Children who have poor eating habits suffer from problems like lack of concentration, problems related to lack of memory, poor cognitive skills and low levels of intelligence also.” Children tend to be become dull and slow in following instructions. Stunted growth is one of the major effects of poor diet. Even if there is an increase in height, there are problems of lack of proper development of several body organs which leads to other complexities. Liver, kidneys and even appetite does not develop with age.

According to Indian Journal of Psychiatry “Skin rashes, allergy, frequent boils, itching and sensitive skin are all related to poor diet. Hair falls, dandruff problems, premature graying of hair and even baldness in severe cases are all related to poor diet.” Poor dental health is a common problem associated with poor eating patterns. The intake of more sugary and junk foods is the reason for mouth bacteria and also cavities. Soft drinks and other processed foods which have harmful dyes in them are responsible for teeth staining.

This is one of the most common problems of poor diet. Weight gain at such a young age is the result of too much fats and sugar in the diet. This mainly comes from sweets, colas, chips and other types of junk food which are more of fat than other nutrients. Children should have a good feed from the first day of his life, an error like malnutrition can cause consequences that mark  their lives as living and conscious beings must take into account the growth process must be careful and taken care of all your needs .

Argumentative Essay

Some Innovations Make Us Lazy

Everything seems to be moving so much more quickly nowadays. In the 21st century, technology has evolved to accommodate a more convenient lifestyle and meet every need. With the right tech in your home, you might not ever need to leave your bed. If we go back a bit from previous years we see before had to queue to buy a CD with the music we liked, or stop by Hollywood Video to rent a new flick. Thanks to technology, these tasks are a breeze, now we just do all these tasks from our cell phones. From the comfort of a sofa we can be aware of everything that happens and we can perform various "activities" at the same time, but we can really call them "activities"? Do they stimulate something in our body for our benefit? Or are they bad habits we have developed?

From the comfort of my own house, while watching a movie on Pay Per View, I can pause mid-movie to double check that my favorite songs on iTunes have been downloaded or my playlists on spotify synced to my smartphone. Login to facebook to see the latest notifications of my friends, take a selfie for snapchat and also share it on instagram, then share images and publish online status, I flip back to Pay Per View, resume the movie, and tweet out what’s happening on screen like a  narrator, amusing myself with the flood of replies. However we do not see that we no longer share evenings with friends, we put aside the family, we make birthday parties in publications in facebook, good anniversary gift becomes share with a video on instagram; our life ceases to be active socially, family gatherings no longer enjoy a joke but to share the images that we walk in the cell. We settled so quickly to technological innovations that are made but we have difficulties to regain the life we had before all these innovations and that is where we say that some innovations make us lazy.

Dominique Jackson said in his article: “How many of us go a week without could our cell phone? Technology has made life so convenient for us that it’s almost scary to think of what would happen if we had to go without our favorite gadget for an extended period of time”. Every day people become dependent beings of technology, we see fewer people use a map and most use gps cell, as well as can be very useful but we lose the sense of exploration, we lose the intentions of knowing the way to our destination and we forget our adventurous spirit. We lose more with technology than without it.

According to Google, “How to tie a tie” gets over 500,000 searches a month. For some reason, over 1,000 people are searching “how to boil water” and “how to boil eggs” gets over 40,000 searches per month. Knowledge above were based on experiences, which were transmitted to us by our family, but Google seems to be our answer to everything; so it is with the books, we prefer quick search on Google and so save the fatigue of having to look in books or other means involving more our body movements of the movement of our fingers.

The technology was created to facilitate the life of human beings, however; there is a misuse of technology, the main idea of innovation is help and facilitate, not our work. Every day we rely more on technology, and we forget and stand on their own. Moderate use is essential for proper development in our lives, to leave the phone or any device and jogging or exercising the body can be decisions that will give us a better benefit our health and life.

A letter to editor

Tegucigalpa, M.D.C
June 15th, 2016
Mr. Editor
Columnist Adviser
The Economist

Dear Mr. Editor,
I am Marina Garcia; I am writing to you this letter for the current situation described in the article about China has replaced its “one-child policy” with a two-child one. I agree and consider that the previous law helped a lot to have a better control of the birth rate in the country, since as a developing country it was important to control the population, the law for a long time remained and that as a result, China it became one of the most developed countries in all aspects, keeping the date in that range. However I consider this law change is an opportunity for families to grow and are not so little; is a great advantage that China maintains its development in optimal because the fact that families can now have 2 children not affected at all. Compared with other countries that do not have such laws is achieved see that the number of children in a family strongly affects the economy of that and therefore in the economy of the country. In my opinion it would be a good option to implement such laws in our country.

I think it would be a great opportunity for China to have two children per family, as they will have more entrepreneurs for the future. An article very interesting, grateful for sharing this information to those who are interested in what happens in the world.

Sincerely,

Marina Garcia

Descriptive Essay

A Proposal That Taught Me a Lot

Take a quick decision can change my life for better or worse and my husband has been the most hasty and crazier than I could have taken decision. I never thought that a person could teach me many new things, could teach me to learn new aspects of yourself, and he could teach me to take the opportunities that I have in front and teach all of such a unique and unforgettable way. With him we have not had a life fairytale but we've had great experiences together, from the day he asked me to be his wife I realized that my life would be like a roller coaster of emotions but we would have a great book stories to tell our children.

When I met my husband he was a young very quiet and conservative, hardly maintained a conversation because he hardly spoke, he liked to be quiet and listen to everything I told him, and I felt very comfortable with him, I eventually started to treat me differently, it was more affectionate and I love to spend more time every time we meet. He had this way of making me feel good, because I could behave as I am and not judge me for it, I could be myself without fear, he taught me I could enjoy my hobbies no problem with it as well as also learned to share hobbies him and enjoy our time together as if it were the last day.

We had 8 months of dating when one afternoon we were sitting in my living room while watching TV and he told me: Honey, will you marry me? It was just like that, without a ring or anything; At that moment I felt a war of emotions of joy, anxiety, nervousness and fear and all I did was laugh and tell him he was crazy, laughed and told me that if he was but for me, we laughed together and continue watching television as if nothing had happened. After that I felt bad at night for saying that and thought I would not ask me again but from that day I knew that he is a very determined person getting what he wants, and at that time was what I wanted.

Fifteenth days after the proposal and one day over lunch put on the table a blue rose with a blue box that said: open me please! I felt my heart beating so fast I thought it was out of my chest, I could not move my hands and I could not take your eyes off the box until he grabbed my hand and squeezed so hard that I felt the need to tighten I also, take the box and when opening it there was a ring and I immediately wonder: Honey, will you marry me?  And without thinking accept, saying that my parents, brother and friends came to congratulate us and took us to another place where the rest of our friends and family were gathered waiting.

I knew a side of him I loved immediately, as he did all that met their determination for all, I will venture to organize all that time without knowing I would accept but learned to trust what he felt for me and had the courage to organize a day I will never forget. I can say that my husband is my pride, he is a young man who knows what he wants for his life also knew he wanted me to be his wife, never let me give up something; he learned that patience is a virtue and I learned that virtue for him and has also taught me that the opportunities are only once so you have to take advantage when I have them in my hands.

My husband is a person who keeps respecting to anyone because he believes that to have peace first must be respected. The first year together was difficult because we were so different but eventually learned to tolerate our personalities, accept ourselves as we are; some days we had so many differences that it was better not to talk but there were other days that we were consistent throughout. He has given me the best experience and is raising a marriage with all the strength of my soul and enjoys time together; we were kids, we had 18 when we got married and learned to be adults together, we have traveled to many places, and every opportunity we have had to create a new history for our children has been utilized to the maximum.

He is my walking stick in my studies, he wants to succeed in all him aims and has taught me to fight for my own aims for the end of the day we sit down to drink a cup of tea and shares those wins together. My husband is impeccable for me to be for the simple reason of being who taught me most in all this time. My husband is impeccable for me to be for the simple reason of being who else has taught me all this time and higher education has been to have the determination to achieve everything I want no matter what, so as he had the determination to propose to be his wife.
